New & Notable: True, Irinox and Thermador prove bigger is better

This month, True Refrigeration introduced the latest addition to its True Residential refrigeration line, a 48-inch side-by side that offers more than 29.4 cubic feet of space. The True 48 features 20.7 cubic feet of refrigeration space and 8.7 cubic feet of freezer storage. Dual compressors and evaporators prevent odor and moisture transfer between the refrigerator and freezer, ensuring proper airflow, temperature and performance. The clean-lined stainless steel design is hygienic, antibacterial and easy-to-clean. The refrigerator features four steel-encapsulated, adjustable glass shelves above three all-stainless steel bins (each with soft-close action), and ergonomically designed door handles that are comfortably sized. The industrial-grade door hinges are painstakingly crafted, having passed the firm’s rigorous testing process, which includes one million door openings. The doors themselves offer an impressive 120-degree stay-open feature and, though easy to open, feel substantial. Like the interior features, they shut with a quiet, soft-close action. And with a ramp-up interior lighting system, contents are clearly illuminated making fast work of what you want to find.

The high-performance Freddy blast chiller and Zero vacuum sealer from Italian company Irinox have just been combined into one sleek tower: the new Gourmet Column. The black-painted steel and black-glass unit is freestanding and fits easily into any kitchen. A storage compartment in the base adds an extra element of convenience. The Freddy and Zero are a perfect pair as both work to preserve the quality and taste of your favorite foods. The fast freezing and vacuuming processes preserve nutrients and vitamins, colors, consistency, freshness and scent. It’s an ideal solution for those who want fresh meals fast. Foods cooked, blast-chilled at 37° Fahrenheit and vacuum packed can be kept perfectly for 14 days in the fridge. If they’re shock-frozen at about -1° Fahrenheit, they can be kept in the freezer for up to 8-10 months. To learn more about Irinox and their incredible new facility, click here.

Thermador’s first high-performance range with a built-in steam and convection oven (officially called the 48-Inch Professional Series Pro Grand Commercial Depth Dual Fuel Steam Range—whew!) debuted a few years ago but it remains the gold standard and continues to change the way real cooks—home cooks—cook. (You can see more in our previous post.) It’s the world’s first kitchen appliance to offer seven separate cooking options in one residential-market range: steaming, convection baking, burner cooking, simmering, grilling, griddle cooking and warming. And this is all with a combination steam and convection oven, a large-capacity convection oven, a six-burner gas cooktop featuring the exclusive Star® Burners, and a fully integrated warming drawer. Additionally, it boasts the company’s innovative technologies like the ExtraLow® simmering setting and a power Star Burner with 22,000 BTU. It’s no wonder Thermador calls it the “ultimate culinary center.” Home cooks (and we suspect a few chefs have these at home too) will feel truly empowered and inspired.
