Episode 140: KCRW's Frances Anderton and Architect Michael Maltzan
This week we have a really interesting conversation that was recorded live. This year, two Convo By Design staples were merged. The West Hollywood Design District's, DIEM program curated by Frances Anderson and Mallory Roberts Morgan was live from WestEdge Design Fair for a full day of talks and panels. This is the first of those conversations. KCRW’s Frances Anderson sat with architect Michael Maltzan about the current state of architecture and design in Los Angeles. Los Angeles has, over the past two decades become a major player on the world stage with regard to architecture and design. Los Angeles, once thought of as a second city when it came to all things arts related, aside from motion pictures, of course, is second to none. And that growth has not come without growing pains. Strained tensions from an abundance of building projects, traffic, congestion, loss of historic properties that have made way for new development. Frances and Michael have an open conversation about the growth and how to move forward in a way that works. Enjoy this conversation between KCRW’s Frances Anderson and architect, Michael Maltzan.

Convo By Design presented by Snyder Diamond was once again featured prominently at the WestEdge Design Fair. Designer Kelley Jackson, in partnership with the Warner Bros. Prop Department and upholstery shop created a whimsical and special place for the CXD Green Room Project. Kelley created a California Beach Follies cabana where the CXD interviews were recorded live. Here is how the space came together.
